The port of Brazzaville is located at the downstream navigational limit point of the Congo river, just upstream from the first impassable rapids, 30 km from Maloukou-Mbambou on the right bank of the Congo river near the Malebo Pool. It is located on the right bank of the Congo River; it is located about 3 km from the Commercial Center of the City of Brazzaville and, is found upstream of Brazzaville Beach and downstream of the Congolese Naval Navy.
The port of Brazzaville has a national and regional vocation. Located opposite the city of Kinshasa, the capital of DR Congo, it occupies a strategic position. It is a breaking point of charge between northern Congo and the Atlantic Ocean. It constitutes a multimodal regional transit platform with various sectors: forest products, industrial bulk, agro-pastoral products and petroleum products.
The upgrading works relate, in particular, to the rehabilitation of the quays (replacement of the concrete blocks, renewal of part of the sheet pile wall, recovery of the crown beams), the acquisition of operating equipment, the rehabilitation of embankments sagging by earthworks and surfacing rehabilitation of access roads to ports and dredging operations in front of quays.
Additional improvements will be made, such as repairing cracks on the walls of buildings and warehouses and evacuating disused and immobilized units.
The aim of improving port infrastructure is to maintain the high level of competitiveness of the port and to support its potential role for the country through the development of new port services and the improvement and increase of port reception capacities.
